Steve was born in Yakima in 1945 he attended Central Washington College and U of W marine school at Friday Harbor.  He has a BS in Biology and Chemistry and MS in biochemistry.  He is a Vietnam veteran and served in the Air Force.  Steve married Carol in 1967 and moved to Alaska in 1976 where he soon became involved with commercial fishing as a Northern Cook Inlet set-netter.  he then moved to Bristol bay as a set-netter in 1980 then moved to Bellingham in 1986.  He fished for Halibut and Black cod in Alaska for several year and continued to fish Bristol Bay until 2013. He bought his first Puget sound crab permit in 1987 along with a gill net permit.  He gave up gill netting in Puget sound as a bad habit but continues to fish crab.  His wife Carol Passed in 2015. Steve recently remarried in March of 2018.  He has 2 daughters and 2 granddaughters.
